WATTS WORKS - SUMMER HAS ARRIVED

Hola:

Crank up your stereos, open the windows, and tell Rapunzel to let down her friggin’ hair.

Summertime has officially arrived. On the 21st (as I write this) we are in the middle of the longest day of the year, with sunlight poking in early and setting up shop until well after supper. Let there be light, still more light, and in case that's not enough, throw in an extra hour of light. Marvin Gaye is playing on the loudspeakers downstairs in our production area, and the sweet warmth of his voice is even more comforting than usual. * Today is a good day.

On Saturday we teamed up with the Chicago History Museum to run a boat tour on the Chicago River, waking up extra early to greet the morning and talk about coffee for a couple hours while floating around the city. It was great. You see the this place with a much different perspective. For those interested, another tour is scheduled for August 25th. (You should totally sign up.)

Meanwhile, we're still awaiting the arrival of our new crop Central American coffees. La Tortuga (Honduras) will be the first one showing up, and long-time Intelli favorites La Perla de Oaxaca (Mexico) and Los Inmortales (El Salvador) are not far behind.

What else is going on?

  • Kobe Bryant wants to play basketball in Chicago.
  • Sammy Sosa just hit his 600th home run and joined some elite company… although not a Chicago Cub, he executed this feat against his former team. Typical, huh?
  • A big lake in Chile disappeared, apparently sinking back into the earth.
  • Somebody captured new footage of the Loch Ness Monster.
  • Scientists in Wisconsin found that simple fructose found in common fruits contains 40% more energy than ethanol and could be a great fuel source.
  • Lastly, 68% of the US coffee market is still owned by Kraft (Maxwell House) and Proctor & Gamble (Folgers). Let’s see what we can do to change this!

Enjoy reading about our latest and great… Summer Solstice Blend. Easy sippin’ for hot summer days and nights.
